Last Saturday, I was taking a bus home after band. After waiting a short while, the bus 196 came and i gratefully boarded it.
As the bus was quite crowded, I had no choice but to stand. What stood out the journey from all the countless ones I had taken was that there was a middle-aged man who was talking and swearing very loudly on the phone.Neither the commuters nor the bus driver did anything and seemed to be trying their very best to ignore him.
After awhile, the bus reached a bus-stop and a few people alighted. After watching them alight, I turned my head and was surprised to find a middle-aged lady waiting by my side. I hurriedly stood to one side to let her past. However, that little episode failed to miss the middle-aged man's eye and he started to direct his rant at me. Screaming at me with both hokkien and english profanities, the gist of what he said was that I should seat down when I could and not block others. He also said many other things such as students carry the world(?) in their school bag.
When he started screaming, I immediately sat down and ignored him for the rest of his rant which lasted about 3 minutes. To make matters worse, a lady behind decided that he was right and joined him to rain down "justice" on me. I did not point out the fact that there was no seat to sit in as the lady whom I was blocking was sitting in the only available one and I did not know that she had to alight as she neither said nor tapped me as I was afraid that he would get physical.
By the time the bus reached the bus interchange, my face was as red as a beetroot from all the curious stares I got from the other passengers. Rushing from the bus the moment the bus opened, I immediately went to the queue for my second bus and hoped that that incident would be forgotten by all those on that bus...
