It happened during English lesson, the whole class was not so quietly doing the work that our teacher had assigned us to do when suddenly we heard a ringing. There was silence as we all waited with bated breath to see who was the guilty culprit. Finally, John (not his real name) slowly took out his cellphone and turned it off. I was shocked as I had never expected him to get caught with his cellphone turned on. He was the kind of person who did his homework on time, got good scores in examinations, definitely the person who paid attention in class and took down notes. Not the person to get in trouble. 

By that time, the whole class was in an uproar and many students were asking the teacher to confiscate the phone. There were those however, who were asking the rest to don't make trouble for him. The teacher at that time was at a lost at what to do as she had not heard his phone ring and John was a very well behaved student. Our class previously had a student who had his phone confiscated and his parents had to write a letter to the school in order for him to get it back and he was supposed to keep it at home for a month.

The class was as many teachers like to say "a fish market" and there were students arguing with the teacher that she should confiscate his phone. Finally, the teacher decided to confiscate his phone and walked back to the teacher's table while the rest of the class was buzzing with excitement over what happened.

Even though John deserved his punishment, I think that the class should not have gotten into an uproar over it and cause the teacher problems. I'm not sure what happened to the cellphone after that but I've heard from my friends that it got returned to him.
