Have you ever had a point of time when problems come together perhaps by coincidence or our own fault and suddenly seem a whole lot harder to solve? Well, yesterday was such a time for me and it wasn't pleasant...

It was like most of every other Fridays I had last year and this year. After leaving band at around 6.30 I would take public bus home and mostly slept during the 45 minute journey which did not include the wait for the bus. Yesterday was no different, after reaching the doorsteps of my house at about 7.30, I fumbled for my keys in my bag. At that point of time, my whole body was exhausted and I wished for nothing more than slouching on my sofa and drinking a soft drink. To my surprise and despair, i realised that I had left my keys in the house. Well, you might think that it was easy to just ring the doorbell and wait for someone to open the door. However, none of my family members were at home and to make matters worse, i knew that they would only come back at around 11p.m. My cellphone was also out of service so there was no means for me to contact them and hope for them to rush home.

I was not as worried at that point of time as I thought that I could slack at my uncle's house just a few blocks away from mine. I thought that would be the end of my problem. Wrong. There was no one at my uncle's house. It was then that i realised that I actually might have to wait 4 hours outside my house for my parents to get home. To make matters worse, I only had $2 so I wouldn't be able to eat dinner.

Grinding my teeth in frustration and anger, I carried my ever growing heavier bag to the nearby playground and began to think of a plan. But here's the catch, I really hate asking strangers for help unless there was a life and death situation. Even though waiting outside my house for 4hours was kind of serious i don't suppose it concerns my life. I hope. So out of the window went the asking-a-random-passerby-for-his/her-cellphone plan. My parents would probably not appreciate me breaking the door just so I could get into the house and *ahem* play Dota. Actually they would kill me and since Chinese New Year was just round the corner, I still want to live so I had to think of other alternatives.

Since I was getting weird looks from the children and teachers from the childcare center next to the playground, I decided to walk to my Alma Mater St Hilda's to see if I can find a friend to lend his cellphone. Fortunately for me, I managed to find my ex-classmate and called my parents and my mother reached home at about 9.30 along with dinner. In the mean time, I bought a 1.5 litres bottle of Coke and waited outside my house along with a book. Even though I had lost about 2 hours doing nothing I'm still thankful I didn't have to wait another 2 hours.
